An Empress rise to the throne:
Mei, like many young sprouts, was born during the early summer monsoon (dryads believe that those who are born under that specific season are strongly related to the Moon. These individuals are considered to have a keen consciousness of the spiritual world, they possesses great intellect, a sense of duty and responsibilities. Their fate is bond to the great tree of life (which is believe to be the cradle of life for dryads ), they are meant to free the afflicted souls and bring change (like the weather). Dryads born under this season generally choose to work as healer, priestess of the moon, monk, oracle, aquamentalist (water elementalist), sage, scholar).

Now, You must be certainly wandering how could a young little girl, like Mei, could ever become the sovereign of Aomori. Mei has a dryad, doesn't have any "noble" sap per say, she was born from a weeping willow tree in the forest of lore and lived there a quiet and secret life with her fellow dryads (dryads after the great war became suspicious of the outer world and generally preferred to stay hidden in the forests). She enjoyed the ordinary and fascinating life of a young and curious sapling. Craving for new adventures and new discoveries. These were the days that she shared with her friends before the great fire that scorch the forest of lore 8 years ago. No one knows what caused this great disaster, was it the will of the sun goddess or a treachery from vile creatures under the thraldom of the demi-god? I do not Know... But what is clear here, is that the entire forest of lore was burnt to the ground, and it's inhabitant homeless or dead. Mei was then found by Aislinn, hidden in a dead stump and was brought with many refugees in the elder forest fav.me/d519iya . It is on those peaceful grounds that Mei received the blessings of an imperial kirin. The apparition of this wild creature to someone, is believe to be a heavenly sign of noble heart and a dignified soul. The creature bowed before Mei and Aislinn and with a great and deep voice chanted these rhymes (Kirin only speak in riddles):

"The sylphs drink at the violet sylvan springs
the sacred lotus swims it's divine essences
arcane naiads of our bewitched silences

drunken candles in this silver Yggdrasil
the lagoon of my dreams smile..." and yada yada yada.

I personally don't understand what that lunatic animal meant, but from that day on, they were both considered by the refugees as their only hope to rebuilt the ancient harmony they had lost and were given full authority and decision power over the little settlement.

The Empress' new Groove:
Its been now more than 12 years since Mei's coronation. Time has show to be kind to the Empress and the very diverse citizens of Aomori. The empire has grown considerably, money wise but has also claimed new land. Mei is now more mindful of what it really means to be sovereign of an entire nation and she gives now a little bit more thought and consideration to the duties such a rank requires. Though sometimes she still act a bit childishly, she understand that the privileges that she possesses also come with great responsabilities.
